M.J. BAILEY DESIGNS
The Art: The jewelry created by M.J. Bailey is made of fused dichroic glass. The colors are carefully selected to compliment the design and to provide distinctive art pieces. M.J. Bailey uses dichroic glass for its unique iridescence and opulent appearance. Each piece is created by using intense heat to fuse the glass components together in a kiln. The fusing process enhances the shimmering look that is distinctive for dichroic glass.
Dichroic glass technology is known as “Thin Film Physics.” The unique coating on the glass was originally developed by the aerospace industry and used in astronauts’ face shields, aerospace optics, camera optics, solar cells, and microbiology research. The art world discovered this delightful “high tech” material, bringing space age technology into our art collections and everyday lives. “Thin Film Physics” is the process of bombarding multiple layers of transparent metal oxides onto the surface of the glass. The molecular thin layers reflect colors, creating the iridescence, and transmit the glow of the rich colors appearing deep within the body of the glass.

As I travel and make presentations around the country, a particular kind of jewelry that I wear gets a lot of compliments. Women often ask where they can purchase this jewelry. Since each piece is handmade and hard to find, I decided to ask the designer, who is a friend and client, if she would allow me to send people to her through this site. She graciously agreed. You can read about the jewelry here, see it, and decide if you would like to order a piece for yourself. You’ll love it!!
